NARDO BY MATTI

Nardo is my favorite sensitive little butterfly who rocks the fuck out on guitar (and bass). He’s the sweetest boy from Pittsburgh who cuts his hair naked in his apartment bathroom in Ridgewood, Queens at 2am and makes it look better than any salon. You can find him shredding on his aggressive skates around Brooklyn, at a club being inspired watching his friends perform, or out and about dancing his worries away until the morning comes. Nardo is intentional with his whole being—his body, his words, his music, his emotions, his clothes (pants game on point, his shoes…fireee). He puts great care into everything he does, as he reliably and meticulously prepares for rehearsals, shows, and recordings. Nardo is self reflective and introspective, and shares his thoughts with others openly. The love he has for his friends and community is boundless. He connects with people out in the world so genuinely and welcomes new experiences with both humor and care. Nardo and I began playing music together in a tiny little dorm room 10 years ago, and continue to do so everywhere from cold barns, to stuffy basements, lit up arenas, roof tops and bedrooms. And every single time, through emotional ups and downs, panic attacks, laughing fits, heartbreak, and pure joy, Nardo shows up his beautiful loving self. He’s my collaborator, my friend, my family. He puts beauty into the world through his music and it makes me cry.
